I live in a land of plenty...
I drive a good car...
I have nice clothes on my back...
I get paid well in my job...
I eat well...
I do not fear for my life...

Some people could say that I am blessed.

I believe I am blessed, but that does not mean that God intends for me to have these material blessings as the way of showing I am a God-follower.

Personally I look at what the Gospels tell us, look at the life Jesus lived, he did not come as a conquering king with wealth and respect...He came as a humble carpenter.

At the start of this year I went to India on a short term missions trip, I saw poverty on a scale that is non-existent in New Zealand. To try and say that God guarantees wealth and happiness for his people is false. Tell that to the beggar on the street in Kolkata with no hands who is begging for enough to eat that day. Or to the mother who begs to feed her child.

In regards to this article I lean towards Rick Warrens view. I agree when he says "You don't measure your self-worth by your net worth"

That is what TV would tell us that you need the latest car, the newest in fashion, the flashest cell phone .

The value is in being a child of God, to know regardless of your situation that you are his.
